Chris Brown’s fans, known as Team Breezy, can expect new music from him very soon. The singer recently caught up with MTV News to share details on his new single “Fine China” and his upcoming album titled X.
Read an excerpt from his interview below:
ON NEW SINGLE “FINE CHINA”:For the first single, I wanted to go more nostalgic, bring Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Sam Cooke to it, but also bring a new sound to what my audience and fans are listening to. For this album, I wanted to have the same mentality as I did with the first album — me being green, me not thinking I know what’s hot and what’s next, me just being Chris Brown. I think this will show my vocal ability a lot more. I’ve developed a falsetto, I can sing at a higher register, and I can elaborate more on my skill.
ON ALBUM TITLE: The song and the album title ‘X’ has a couple different meanings,” he explained. “It can refer to an ex-girlfriend, in terms of you always look forward to moving forward from. It’s also about being a reject in a sense. In me being myself, being able to grow up, me not always hanging around the right crowd or doing the right thing all the time — it’s me saying, ‘I’m over it. I’m past the bullsh– now.
Chris Brown’s new single “Fine China,” written by Diplo, will premiere on April 1st. His X album is scheduled to release in August/early September.
In related news, Brown stopped by “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” this morning for an exclusive interview about his upcoming projects. The singer dished on working with Jennifer Lopez, his relationship with Rihanna, social media and more.
Check out excerpts from Chris Brown’s interview with Ryan Seacrest below:
ON COLLABORATING WITH J-LO: We actually are collaborating. I’m trying to get her on my album, I have a couple songs that would be incredible for her to feature on. But as for now, I’m just in the studio writing for her album and collaborating on new stuff and trying to give her some party music and fun stuff.
ON RIHANNA: I just tried my best to be the best man I could be over the years and just show her how remorseful and sorry I was for the incident and that time was probably the worst part of my life and being that she has and she’s a wonderful person I’m eternally grateful and thankful. It’s still like we’re kids. I try not to be too grown and be like, ‘Lets have candlelight dinner every night.’ I try to make sure everything is fun. It has to be fun and it has to be genuine.
ON TWITTER & INSTAGRAM: Both [are a blessing and a curse]…for me now I’m not as hands on as I used to be. I totally deleted my Instagram and I get on Twitter every now and then to touch base with my fans because I love my fans. But sometimes when you’re a young kid and you have impulsive techniques you kind of get like, ‘Arghhh! I can’t stand you’. People love [Twitter wars], they eat it up, so I’d rather not feed them that.
