Janelle Monáe Covers Vibe Vixen, Defines Electric Lady

While preparing for the September 10th release of her forthcoming album, “The Electric Lady,” the beautiful and undeniably talented Janelle Monáe also graces the cover of the September 2013 issue of VIBE Vixen, along with a photo spread throughout the issue.

As always, the sophisticated songstress continues to embody her classic style in cover photos as well as in her interview that indulged fans into the woman behind Janelle Monáe Robinson.

For the cover story, the Covergirl spokesperson sat down with VIBE Vixen writer Deena Campbell to discuss style, sexuality, self-revelation, and the concept behind “The Electric Lady.”

“An electric lady is quirky, unafraid, epic and ‘nicety’—that’s when you’re being nice and nasty, noble and naughty, all at the same damn time, ” Monáe said in VIBE Vixen.

In the story, Monáe also went on to talk about her upbringing from a working-class family as the drive behind her sense of self.

The Electric Lady will include heavy-hitting collaborations from Prince, Esperanza Spalding, Miquel, Solange and Monáe’s best friend Erykah Badu.
