What is a sultry R&B love song without real-life inspiration? Although some of the best R&B ballads come from the experiences of single and heart-broken singers, some R&B singers use their budding love or well-established marriages to inspire love hit after hit.
Here are a few of our favorite R&B singers and their boos, and the songs their love may have inspired.
Monica & Shannon Brown
Most of us know the story behind the married couple but for those who are unaware, the R&B singer met the NBA star in 2010 after Brown was cast as the role of Monica’s love interest in her “Love All Over Me” video.
The two were married six months later, and welcomed a baby girl named Laiyah in September of this year.
Instead of Brown inspiring a love song from Monica, a love song is what brought them together.
Ciara & Future
Ciara and Future have been in the entertainment news recently on their recent announcement of engagement last month after dating for a year.
A wedding date has not been set as of yet.
“We threw a few dates out at each other, trying to figure it all out and make sense,” Future said in a recent Billboard interview. “We want the date to be special. We’re trying to pick little dates out.”
Ciara has been steadily coming back on the scene with her July release of her fifth studio album, “Ciara,” and even included her relationship with the Atlanta rapper in her “Body Party” video, which depicts how the two met.
The album’s tracks, “Body Party” and “DUI,” are definitely steamy songs from the album that may have been inspired by her budding romance. Thank you, Future!
Tiffany Evans & Lorenzo Henderson
The all-grown-up Tiffany Evans and her husband Lorenzo Henderson are one young power couple. The two founded the media production company, Little Lady Enterprises, and continue to work together with Evans as CEO and Henderson as president.
The two married in 2010, and welcomed baby girl Adalia into the world in 2012.
Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon
We cannot leave out graceful star Mariah Carey and her hubby Nick Cannon.
Married for five years, MC and Cannon are one of the most adorable couples in the R&B industry, especially with their twins Moroccan and Monroe.
Beyoncé & Jay-Z
Beyonce & Jay-Z are hip hop’s first couple and among this millennium’s dominating power couples. The two, in their fifth year of marrige, dominate their respective industries, earning an estimate of $95 million together.
We love when the two collaborate together in their music, with one of their greatest collaborations being their daughter, Blue Ivy.
