August Alsina may be a new artist but he’s making major accomplishments. His debut single “I Luv This Sh*t” featuring Trinidad Jame$ has reached Gold status, selling over 500,000 copies.
The New Orleans native took it to his Instagram page to share his milestone to his fans. “A song they said ‘wasn’t single material,’ & how it wouldn’t work in the clubs, how it’s too raunchy for radio and they’d never play it. A ‘buzz single’ turned number 1 to over 500k copies sold. Mann impossible aint shit and its all because of yal! We breaking barrier’s outchea!,” Alsina wrote.
“I Luv This Sh*t,” produced by Knucklehead, peaked at No. 1 on urban radio in October 2013. In an interview with Rated RnB, Knucklehead revealed he had a feeling “I Luv This Sh*t” was destined for success. “I just knew based how many times I listened to it, it was,” he recalls. “It never got on my nerves. It was pretty addictive.”
“I Luv This Sh*t” will appear on Alsina’s debut album “Testimony,” which hits stores on April 15. The album will include production from Jasper Cameroon (Ciara, Tiffany Evans), Eric Hudson, Drumma Boy and The Exclusives.
