Jennifer Hudson plans to “Jenniferize” her fans and show them her authentic self with her forthcoming album.
The Oscar-winning singer/actress recently sat down with V Magazine to talk about her third album. Hudson took more creative control this time around by writing original content for the new project; she also channels her Chicago roots and embraces a soulful ’70s sound on the project.
In regards to Hudson’s vision for her new album, she tells V, “I want to lift the people up, have fun, create a moment. I have my own visions that I want to bring to life. I realized that people don’t really know who I am. It just feels like it’s time to take the training wheels off, you know? Let them see me.”
The “I Can’t Describe” singer recently honored Soul icon, Aretha Franklin, at the 2014 BET Honors by performing a medley of her music catalog including household hits “Respect” and “Day Dreaming.”
Hudson’s new album, due this spring, will feature collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Babyface and R. Kelly.
