R&B’s neo-soul pioneer D’Angelo is gearing up to release his live album, “Live at the Jazz Café, London: The Complete Show” next Tuesday. To help build more anticipation for the 12-track set, the “Voodoo” crooner premieres “I’m Glad You’re Mine,” one of four covers off the project.
Serving as track eight on the album, D’Angelo evokes his sultry and classic sound on Al’Green’s 1972 hit “I’m Still in Love With You.”
Along with Al Green’s cover, “Live at the Jazz Café, London: The Complete Show” will feature D’Angelo’s renditions of Smokey Robinson’s “Cruisin’,” Ohio Players’ “Sweet Sticky Thing” and Mandrill’s “Fencewalk.”
In other news, D’Angelo will be a part of the “Get On Up: A James Brown Celebration” on August 13. He will join artists such as Aloe Blacc, Angélique Kidjo and Bettye LaVette to pay tribute to the Godfather of Soul.
While you wait for the live project to hit stores and digital retailers on March 25, listen to “I’m Glad You’re Mine” below.
