With her new album “Braveheart” residing at No. 109 on the Billboard 200, Ashanti realizes it’s time to rejuvenate the promotional campaign for the album with a visit to “Good Day NY” on Tuesday.
Before performing her new single “I Got It,” the R&B vixen shared the reasons behind the six-year delay of her fifth studio album. “I started my own record label. I walked away from seven major offers. I wanted to do it on my own. I felt like this was the right thing to do,” said Ashanti.

Although her fans waited patiently for a new project, she revealed the trials and tribulations she dealt with while recording are transparent on the new album. “It’s extremely personal. The past two years of my life is definitely a mirror of the album. Everything I’ve gone through personally with my career in the public is definitely in ‘Braveheart,’ ” said Ashanti.
To further promote her new album, the “No Where” singer will be performing at B.B. Kings Blues Club in Manhattan tonight at 8 p.m.
