Upcoming artist Tinashe chats with VIBE Magazine discussing new music that will be hitting the airwaves soon.
The Los Angeles native has been building momentum in the industry with the release of her “Black Water” mixtape toward the end of last year. Thickening the anticipation to release more music, the young singer-songwriter has been cooking up her debut album since the beginning of 2013. The singer tells VIBE that she loves the versatility of the upcoming album and while she is still stuck with her musical style, she has made a lot of progression as well.
“It has some similar sounds from the music I’ve put out before in the sense that I’m still writing the stuff so it still comes from a genuine place,” comments the young talent.
Tinashe reveals one of her favorite songs from her debut album is titled “Pretend.” She enlists one of her favorite rappers, A$AP Rocky for the track. The relatable collaboration is “about when you’re in a relationship and instead of dealing with the stuff that you deal with in a relationship…you’re just going to pretend that everything is fine,” says the 21-year-old.
Look out for Tinashe’s debut album to manifest later this year with productions from Mike WiLL Made-It, DJ Mustard, Boi-1da and more. Watch Tinashe’s up-and-close interview with VIBE below.
