Ashanti is a trooper. The independent artist visited “Good Morning America” on Friday (Apr. 18) to promote her latest album “Braveheart.”
Before gracing the stage, Ashanti talked about how Mel Gibson’s movie “Braveheart” inspired her new album. “I think the title of my heart ‘Braveheart’ — because I’m indie now — I kind of made the metaphor of the major labels and the indie labels — you had the Scots and the Brits and they kind of came on the field and it’s like you couldn’t deny the passion the Scots had. Even though they didn’t have the equipment the Brits had and they didn’t have the horses and the armory and all of that stuff,” said Ashanti.
Ashanti also revealed that she has a couple of films in the works including a Syfy television movie and will be shooting a movie this summer with Michelle Pfeiffer.
After her interview, Ashanti took the stage to perform tracks off her “Braveheart” album (“Runaway” and “Scars”). She also performed her hit single “Foolish,” “Always On Time,” “What’s Luv?” and “Happy.”
