LeToya Luckett keeps a steady day job. With her new movie “From the Rough” in theaters now, the two-time Grammy Award-winning artist used an interview opportunity with Jones Magazine to discuss the film, her new music and her advice on staying healthy.
The film “From the Rough” depicts the life of Catana Starks who overcame the adversity of being the first African-American woman ever to coach an all-men team at Tennessee State. Luckett calls the picture “a really inspiring story” and believes viewers will think the same. “I think that people will love this movie because it’s a true story,” she says. “It’s a real story about someone who didn’t have the support of the school or anyone else because they didn’t think that she could make this happen. I feel people will get inspired the same way I did after watching the film.”
Down the line of questioning, she gave fans some more details on her third studio album, “Until Then.” “I’m wrapping up my album now that will be out later this year,” she says. “I’m actually working on selecting my singles now, so it’s exciting.”
If you’re wondering how LeToya keeps her skin and hair flawless, she provides some helpful tips on how women can achieve the same immaculate beauty. “I would say keep your water intake high and ladies always make sure to take makeup off at night, even if you’re in the bed get up and take if off so you don’t clog your pores,” she instructs. “Also, sunscreen! My momma was right, sunscreen is key, it helps prevent age spots and protects your skin against the sun because I for one am a sucker for a tan, but I still always have my sunscreen.”
