Singer-songwriter Elijah Blake premieres a visual for his two new songs “6” and “Fallen.”
Blake becomes an open book on his new track “6,” which details his violent relationship with his biological father as a child. He also mentions how his past experiences with his father still haunt him today. “Six-years old and I’m staring at a movie screen/ In a dark sanctuary, shaking, watching images of the beast/ Repeated nightmares, can’t even sleep at 23/ Thanks a lot dad, now I’m stuck with fucking PTSD,” he sings.
“6” is the lead track off Blake’s upcoming EP “Shift,” set to release in September. In an interview with Billboard, he shared some details about “6.”
All your mannerisms are developed when you’re 6-years old, such as who you are or if you’re a glass half full or glass half empty type of person. I looked back to what I went through when I was a 6-year old. I went through religion being shoved down my throat and my biological dad being the Island guy who was really strict and pulled out the belt for everything. It affects me till this day, like how I am in relationships. I still have a hard time trusting people.
