Jeramine Dupri is no longer Mariah Carey’s manager, Billboard reports.
Carey has allegedly ended her terms with Dupri and has been working with Kevin Liles, former president of Def Jam. Carey began working with Liles since she announced her beverage partnership with Go N’Syde in June. Although the two have been working together for a couple months, an official management deal hasn’t been signed, according to sources.
On May 27, Carey released her 14th studio album “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse,” which debuted at No. 3 with only 58k units sold. The album’s opening sales mark her lowest debut sales for a non-holiday studio album.
Carey’s ‘supportive’ fans were not happy with her album sales and the inconsistency of her era as a whole. Fueled with frustration, Carey’s lambs started pointing fingers at Dupri. After growing tired of getting blamed for Carey’s train wreck era, Dupri fired back with an open letter to fans.
Durpi recently spoke to Billboard ending his management relationship with Carey. “I’m a very hands-on person when it comes to my work,” he said in a statement. “I put my all into every project. But when I’m not allowed to do what I do, then I know it’s time for me to move on. Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future.”
We’re hoping Carey and Liles will be able to reboot their campaign for “Me. I Am Mariah,” as the album has only sold 103,000 copies to date.
