Janelle Monae has been tapped to headline REDF’ sixth annual benefit on Thursday, September 18 at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco.
The “Electric Lady” will perform an intimate show as part of an effort to raise funds and awareness to help transform lives and communities by creating jobs for people facing the greatest barriers to work.
“Celebrating people like my parents and the working-class while helping to raise funds for an organization like REDF is an honor that’s truly in line with my values,” says Monae.
REDF creates jobs and employment opportunities for people facing the greatest barriers to work – like young people who’ve dropped out of school, people who’ve been homeless or in prison, and people with mental health disabilities. The organization has directly supported more than 50 social enterprises in California that have employed thousands of individuals who faced significant barriers to work, and earned more than $140 million in revenue.
