After the recent devastating Mike Brown incident last week, musicians have when stepping in one way or another to make sure their voices are heard about the unjust situation at hand and demanding a timely verdict. Varner decided to use pen, paper and her vocals to promote awareness of this situation on her end. Varner’s inspirational song advocates one unified love and respect amongst each other.
“Over the past few tumultuous days I have prayed long and hard for Mike Brown’s family, the people of Ferguson, and the families of many others we have lost due this horrific death pattern,” says Varner. “With persistence, strategy and intellect, we can not only obtain justice for Mike Brown, but we can effectuate changes that will prevent these things from happening again!”
The Los Angeles musician challenges change in our society with her protest anthem encouraging the idea of her thought provoking lyrics in her inspiring song. “Imagine no one needing guns all at once, impossible maybe/ But we’ve never tried it/ The whole world in silence/ Respecting each other, our gods, and our brothers, killing with kindness.”
