Technology plays a huge role in our lives today and for Sevyn Streeter it’s no different. The singer-songwriter has taken advantage of technology to help her with her music. In fact, the “It Won’t Stop” songstress revealed that she collaborated with Alicia Keys via Skype to create her single “A New Day.”
“I recorded my parts, and we sent them over,” says Streeter. “I was sweating bullets at first. I’m not going to lie—I was so nervous working with her for the first time, but she’s amazing. So we got back on our video chat, and she was like, ‘Yeah! I love it.’ I was like, ‘Wow. Look at what technology could do.’ I could have a session with somebody as incredible as Alicia Keys, and she’s way in New York and I’m way in California, but this song, thanks to technology, came together, and the song was actually her single. It was called ‘A New Day’.”
Streeter also revealed that she records her studio sessions. “I have recorded 75 percent of my sessions over the last five years onto my laptop—video-recording my sessions—and it’s fun to look back on.”
