Coko, from the ’90s R&B group SWV, passes her torch to her all-new three-band girl group TTYL and introduces their debut cover record of Xscape’s “Understanding.”
Coko Clemons, known synonymously as Coko, and her husband Mike Clemons birth a new female group to the world of music. The Talented Young Ladies (TTYL) include three teenagers (left to right) JoJo (16), Autumn (17) and Rone’ (15).
Even though the music world currently lacks the presence of group acts these days, the newbies are managed by someone who knows the ins and outs of what it’s like to be in a successful female band and has some clear guidance at their disposal.
For their world debut, the group decides to go with a record covering another successful 90s female group Xscape and their 1993 hit record “Understanding.” The premature group shows that even though they may be young, they have a ’90s flair that shines through and can’t be hidden.
The band members each bring something individually to the table with their different voices. When listening to their cover record, this is evident as one’s voice is very powerful, one is mellow and soft and the other is right in the middle, giving the group a nice vocal blend.
Back in May, the group told The Hype Magazine that they want young girls to be able to relate to their music and inspire everyone who listens to their songs. So, give a listen to the budding group below and tell us what you think.
