It’s been nearly five years since Jazmine Sullivan had an album logged into the Billboard 200 chart. Her new album Reality Show made its debut this week with underwhelming sales.
With several singles and music videos released, Sullivan’s third studio album opened at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 after selling 29,708 in pure sales. Collectively, with online streaming included, the first week numbers total 32,254. The debut sales for Reality Show marks Sullivan’s lowest first week sales to date.
Her 2010 effort, Love Me Back sold 57,000 copies in its first week. Meanwhile, her debut album, Fearless sold 65,000 copies in its first week.
Sullivan calls her new album “a perfect time capsule of modern society and even shows how I’ve been affected by this culture. From my language, to the choice of beats, for the most part it’s very ‘now.’ I’ll probably look back on it and say ‘WTF was I thinking?’ Hopefully we all do. Hopefully from here, we’ll grow into greater human beings and years later can look back at Reality Show as the soundtrack to the way we were.”
This album should’ve sold 800,000 in the first day really whats wrong with people they don’t know real music when they here here it
Amazing album!
