Platinum-selling R&B group TLC has launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance their final album.
The “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” singers aim to collect at least $150,000 for their album by February 19. Although a final album really isn’t necessary, considering their timeless hits, TLC wants fans to know that this project is very special and they are doing this to have complete creative control over the album.
“While major labels offer artists multimillion dollar recording and marketing budgets, they don’t often give artists complete control of their own music. It is ESSENTIAL that we create our final album completely on our own terms, without any restrictions, with YOU,” TLC wrote on their Kickstarter page.
Speaking on the sound of their album, TLC says, “Our final album will stay true to the TLC sound, always confronting the real issues and life experiences that we all must face every single day, everywhere. We write music that people relate to…timeless music. No matter the trends, we feel like our music is always relevant.”
Like all other Kickstarter campaigns, TLC will offer fans different rewards depending on the amount of money they donate. Fans can donate anywhere from $5 to $7,500. Rewards include having your name in the album liner notes, handwritten lyrics, signed vinyl, a movie date with TLC and much more.
