R. Kelly is back with a feel-good song titled “Backyard Party.” The R&B veteran sings about firing up the grill and having a good time with his friends on the weekend. It’s the perfect song to play at a cookout!
“Everyone’s happy, finally it’s the weekend / All the hard work’s behind me and I just invited all my friends / I’m about to throw something on the grill / And get together and play some cards / A couple of drinks, something to smoke and do our thing / No one’s got hating in their hearts,” Kellz sings.
“Backyard Party” is reportedly the first single off Kelly’s upcoming album, Buffet, due on September 25.
Speaking on inspiration behind the album, Kellz told Sway in the Morning, “I was doing a show — I just finished one of my tours — I was looking over the audience and I started seeing all type of generations in the audience — young, middle-aged, old…that’s when I realized I’ve been in the business for 27 years. I captured all of these generations. They were all singing their favorite songs. I said, ‘Man I need to do an album with all of these types of songs on it.’ I decided to call it The Buffet — all you can hear. It’s a concept album.”
