A new Aaliyah project may be on the way.
After receiving many requests, her longtime producer Timbaland confirmed in an Instagram post that fans will get a chance to hear some of her unreleased music.
“Attention!!!!! People ask me all the time do I have any babegirl music we haven’t heard !!!!!well the answer is YES!!!!!!!! TIMBO x BABEGIRL !!!!! Sneak peak coming !!!!!!!,” he wrote.
In 2012, hit-making producer Noah “40” Shebib and Drake announced that they were teaming with Blackground Records to release a posthumous Aaliyah album. However, the news received backlash as fans demanded that Timbaland and Missy Elliott be a part of the project.
“That was a very sad experience for me,” said Shebib. “I was naïve to the politics surrounding Aaliyah’s legacy and a bit ignorant to Timbaland’s relationship and everybody else involved and how they’d feel. Tim said to me, ‘Don’t stop, make the album.’ I think that was Tim taking the position of, ‘I’m not going to stop you. If you’re not going to do it, that’s your decision.’ But ultimately, I wasn’t comfortable and didn’t like the stigma.”
Do you want to hear unreleased Aaliyah music or do you think they should let her rest in peace?
