Nearly a year after making a splash with her debut album, Aquarius, Tinashe is ready to release her follow-up.
The 22-year-old artist has been on the road a lot lately — headlining her world tour, opening for Nicki Minaj and now prepping to open for Katy Perry — but has found time to work on her next album.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Tinashe candidly chatted about her work ethic and revealed details about her sophomore effort, which is tentatively scheduled to release in November.
“I grew up in the era of steady content, every day, all day,” Tinashe told Billboard. “Days off drive me crazy — I just sit around and I think about all the sh*t I could be doing.”
Fans can expect Tinashe’s next album to be more mainstream. She’s enlisted producers like Hit-Boy, Boi-1da, Nic Nac, Dev Hynes, Dr. Luke and Max Martin to appeal to a wider audience.
“I don’t see myself as an urban niche act,” she said. “I want to have mainstream success that doesn’t feel forced or label-made.”
