Tinashe is delivering cold sweats with her steamy February/March 2016 Complex cover. Wearing a lime green Moschino swimsuit standing in a tall glass of water with a straw ready for audiences to take a sip.
In this interview, Tinashe pours herself out discussing topics about her career, family dynamic, high school dating struggles and sophomore album Joyride. Set in the comfort of her home in California alongside her parents, Michael and Aimie, and her younger brothers, Thulani and Kudazi.
Often her choice to stay home is the source of a few jokes but the 22-year-old says, “It’s a place for my solitude,” she continued. “I’m very comfortable here. I can be pure inspiration here, and not be affected by any other factor, whether that’s a producer or anyone else’s opinion.”
She details her struggles of dating in high school saying “Nobody wanted to f*ck with me. As far as the guys go, nobody wanted to like me or date me. They’d talk to me in secret and then at school they’d ignore me.”
Something Tinashe doesn’t have to worry about anymore, especially in this sizzling colorful photoshoot captured by Sarah Mccolgan; she told Complex, “This is probably one of my racier ones. The only other one that can rival this shoot is my Playboy shoot but I think this one’s actually hotter.”
As the songstress gears up for her upcoming album and tour Joyride, she told Complex that the album isn’t quite finished. She continues, “I would’ve said 95 percent, but now I’m going back to 80 percent. Rethinking some things in the 11th hour.”
Joyride hits shelves this year via RCA Records. It will feature previously released songs “Party Favors” featuring Young Thug, “Player” featuring Chris Brown, “Energy” featuring Juicy J and “Ride of Your Life.”
