Following Prince’s death on April 21, the musician has seen a huge sales spike in albums and songs from his grieving fans. According to Billboard, Prince has sold nearly 3.5 million album and song units in the U.S. alone.
Nielsen Music reports Prince’s collection of albums sold 654,000 copies in the U.S. between April 15 and April 24. The top-selling albums include The Very Best of Prince (260,296), Purple Rain (144,754) and The Hits/The B-Sides (63,951).
Meanwhile, he also sold 2.82 million songs in that same span of time. The top-selling songs include “Purple Rain” (352,144), “Little Red Corvette” (225,867)” and “Kiss” (205,454).
The legendary singer’s album sales have pushed him to the top of the Billboard 200 Albums chart. His The Very Best of Prince compilation album is now No. 1, while Purple Rain rests at No. 2.
Prince died at age 57 at his Paisley Park complex in Minnesota.
