Jojo is officially back! The 25-year-old singer teams up with rapper Wiz Khalifa for her comeback single “F*ck Apologies.” Along with her new single, JoJo also shares its accompanying music video that was directed by EMMY Award-nominated filmmaker Francesco Carrozzini (Beyoncé, Sia, Lana Del Rey).
On the catchy track, JoJo tells her lover that she isn’t going to apologize if it’s not genuine.
“And honestly I was just about to pick up the phone / And then I realized that I didn’t do nothing wrong / You would even tell two lies to prove that you were right / Usually I’d go on and take the blame but not this time, not this time,” she sings.
She continues, “What you want from me?/ I would say I’m sorry if I really meant it/ F*ck apologies / I would say I’m sorry if I really meant it / I’m not perfect, I got pride /That’s not what it is this time /So f*ck apologies /I would say I’m sorry if I really meant it /If I, if I, if I really meant it.”
“F*ck Apologies” is the first single from JoJo’s highly anticipated third studio album, Mad Love, due everywhere on October 14 via Atlantic Records. It will be JoJo’s first time releasing an album in ten years.
“F*ck Apologies” will impact Top 40, Rhythmic and Hot AC radio in August.
It’s been a long time coming for Jojo. The singer took our hearts in 2004 with hits such as “Baby It’s You” featuring Bow Wow and her certified gold hit “Leave (Get Out).” Her powerful vocals at such a young age is what helped her build a strong fanbase.
After her second album, The High Road, Jojo had trouble with her record label (Blackground Records) and for many years wasn’t able to release music. After winning her legal battle, JoJo was released from her label. Fans expressed much support and excitement about the singers’ return.
Jojo didn’t hesitate to put out new music, either. After signing with Atlantic Records, she released her III EP, which included three strong tracks “When Love Hurts,” “Save My Soul” and “Say Love.”
