Jhené Aiko paints a picture of what it means to be a “Maniac” in her latest video. The video was directed by Aiko herself, along with Topshelf Junior. The clip features Aiko in an abandoned asylum where she explores her sexual side.
“There are so many layers to my personality. One of them is very sexual and ‘Maniac’ is me sharing that side of myself,” Aiko told Rolling Stone. “When I started putting together the concept for the ‘Maniac’ visual, I wanted to explore what it meant to be manic.”
She continues, “I’ve always liked a little pain with my pleasure. Most of the props that I used in the ‘Maniac’ visual are actual sex toys that I bought myself, including the gag and restraints.”
“Maniac” is the first single off Aiko’s forthcoming sophomore album, which is slated to release this year via Def Jam Recordings.
