R&B newcomer ANGEL is back with his brand new single titled “Hi Grade.” On the reggae-inspired track, the UK native sings about smoking with his love interest.
“Why don’t you come over my place? / Baby, we can smoke up the high grade / Them kinda herbs make you feel like / Really make you love ’til you feel right,” he sings on the feel-good track.
Written and produced by ANGEL, “Hi Grade” is a nod to his own musical upbringing. His father played around the world with legendary reggae artists such as Bob Marley, Misty in Roots, Dennis Brown and his own band Zabandis.
“Some of you may or may not be aware that I have West Indian parentage,” ANGEL said. “My pops was a huge influence on me growing up playing with all of the big Reggae artists in the late 80’s and 90’s. I actually started producing Reggae music initially before I found love in R&B. This record was an opportunity to make something my Pops and Uncles would be really proud of. It’s authentic and represents my foundation and roots. It’s really important to me.”
“Hi Grade” will appear on ANGEL’s forthcoming project that will release this spring on Motown Records.
