Kevin Ross previews more music from his upcoming debut album, The Awakening. The DMV native has released a socially conscious song titled “Look Up,” where he offers words of encouragement with lines like, “When the world turns their back on you / Never feel you’re misunderstood / Just look up.”
He also questions how this country treats its own people. “How much news could we ignore? We’re feeding other countries while our neighbors starving next door / Does my color speak louder than me? / I guess you can’t change what they wanna see.”
The song also features a guest appearance from Christian rapper Lecrae. “You know what’s funny? / When it rains it, pours / We say we got money for war but we ain’t feeding the poor,” he raps.
