On May 19, Evans will release her duets album, The King & I, with Notorious B.I.G. In a statement, Evans revealed “Ten Crack Commandments” was one of the first songs she wanted to remake for the album.
“Excited and optimistic about the new deal and the opportunity to bring my idea to life, I started looking for Big’s a capellas on YouTube while in Detroit rehearsing with my band,” she said. “With ‘Ten Crack Commandments’ being one of the songs I had always wanted to redo, I found it and got to work! It took a few different sessions to get the commandments to be meaningful and clever, but I do feel these are points that both men and women can appreciate.”
The King and I is packed with guest features including Lil’ Cease, Lil’ Kim, Busta Rhymes, 112, Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P, to name a few. It will also feature narration from B.I.G.’s mother Voletta Wallace.
