Emerging R&B group June’s Diary — handpicked by Kelly Rowland and Frank Gatson — pays homage to Jodeci by covering their 1991 hit “Stay” from their debut album, Forever My Lady.
The quintet teamed with famed photographer Derek Blanks to shoot an accompanying video for the cover. The minimal visual shows five singers — Ashly, Brienna Gabby, Kristal and Shyann — dressed in ’90s-inspired clothing while they perform the song in front of a grey backdrop.
This isn’t June’s Diary first time showing love to groups that came before them. Last year, they joined En Vogue on Greatest Hits to perform their signature single “Free Your Mind.”
June’s Diary is currently the opening act on R. Kelly’s The After Party Tour. They’re also working on their forthcoming debut album that will release on Epic Records.
