Mary J. Blige has released a video for “Strength of a Woman,” the title track to her 14th studio album. Directed by Andrew Sandler, the video finds Blige, dressed in an all black ensemble, on top of the Capitol Records Tower in Los Angeles. As Blige belts the powerful lyrics, an aurora hovers over the building at night. From a construction worker to a nurse, the beautiful lights attract women of different walks of light.
“We’re the wisdom like a guiding light / We’re the trees left standing through the storms of life / We’ve come so high and we’ve come so far / Can’t hold us back,” Blige sings.
“Strength of a Woman” was produced by Teddy Riley and Brandon “Bam” Hodges. The album, Strength of a Woman, is out now.
Blige’s A&R Eddie Fourcell exclusively chatted with Rated R&B about her new album. “This album will prove that Mary J. Blige has made an album in 2017, 25 years after her debut and still made an amazing record that still stands the time,” he told Rated R&B. “We didn’t make it a dated album. It doesn’t feel like What the 411? but it feels like what she was on there . You’re going to be extremely pleased with the album.”
