Resident Queens of the South Trina and K. Michelle have just teamed up for potential summer anthem “If It Ain’t Me.”
The track is driven by Trina’s feelings of rage after finding out her lover had been cheating on her while she was on tour.
“I got motherf*cking proof/That you been lying through your tooth/You had a h*e up in your coupe/Baby, hold up, let me shoot (doot, doot, doot, door),” she spits.
K. Michelle provides the assist on the hook and even a verse of her own, exploring the other side of a heartbreak: how to move on.
“You’re no good boy/Tryna make excuses like I’m all yours/You crazy, no more tears I’m faded/No more love I’m wasting,” she sings.
The song samples Patti LaBelle’s signature hit “Somebody Loves You Baby (You Know Who It Is)” from her 1991 album Burnin’. This is Trina and K. Michelle’s fourth collaboration, following up Trina’s “No More” and K. Michelle’s “Self-Made” and “Rich,” which also features Memphis rapper Yo Gotti.
