With 25 years as a singer-songwriter under her belt, it’s hard to believe that Kandi Burruss has never graced the cover of Essence Magazine — until now.
The Georgia peach shows off her pearly whites on the October 2017 cover Essence. On the cover, Burruss is styled in a black and gray patterned dress and covered with a cream overcoat.
In her interview, the Real Housewives of Atlanta starlet covers a variety of topics including returning to reality television, fame and building an empire for her family.
Read a few excerpts from Burruss’ interview with Essence Magazine below:
On how season nine of the RHOA made her rethink returning to the franchise: “I honestly had a lot of times when I just cried. There were moments when I wanted to say, ‘You know what? I’m done with this!’ I was vindicated in front of millions, which helped me feel comfortable again.”
On second chance at fame : “It’s a very humbling moment when your songs aren’t on the radio anymore. I didn’t appreciate what that success was when we had it. I remember feeling like, when I get things back the way I want them to be, I will never take anything for granted again.”
On leaving a legacy for family to follow : “Some of us are doers and some of us are just dreamers. I’m both. I’m trying to build so that I can set up my children to have great futures. All of these different companies that we have, I would love for them to be passed down from generation to generation. I want my kids to be leaders.”
Kandi will be hitting the road with members of Xscape, Tamar Braxton and Monica this fall.
Fans of Xscape can look forward to new music and their reality show, Still Kickin It, premiering November 5 on Bravo.
The October issue of Essence Magazine will hit newsstands on September 22.
