Atlantic Records and Artist Partner Group Launch Nationwide Search for R&B Talent

Atlantic Records is looking to sign more R&B newcomers. The label has partnered with AEG Presents, Deckstar, Deutsch and Spotify to launch EMERGE, a social media-driven talent search.

This revolutionary partnership marks the first time that a music company, live concert organization, management company, marketing agency and digital music service have joined forces to both discover and provide world-class opportunities to emerging talent.

EMERGE is accepting submissions from artists and musicians between the ages of 13 and 19, who are residents of the U.S. or Canada (excluding Quebec), beginning today through Sunday, November 12th. All entries will be reviewed by Atlantic A&R representatives, who will select the extraordinary artist or artists deserving of a major label contract.

“EMERGE is all about breaking the barrier to entry for outstanding young artists,” said Artist Partner Group Founder & CEO Mike Caren. “Getting heard in this business shouldn’t be about who you know, but who you are as an artist. This campaign isn’t about industry relationships or market research, but about creating a new channel from performer to label, combined with the expertise of our friends at AEG Presents, Deckstar, Deutsch and Spotify. We’re all looking forward to uncovering amazing talent in unexpected places, and creating once-in-a-lifetime shots at superstardom.”

“We’re super excited to partner with all of these amazing companies that together embrace all aspects of an artist’s career,” said Atlantic Records’ Chairman & COO Julie Greenwald and Atlantic Records Chairman & CEO Craig Kallman. “This is a talent search for the digital age, designed to find distinctive voices with huge potential.”

Last May, Rated R&B chatted with Marcel about his oft-delayed debut album and his most personal song from the project. “Eastside Story” because it was only two people who had anything to do with it — me and Jan Hancock. We produced it. We wrote it. Arranged it. Recorded it. It was the first record that we recorded in the process of doing this album.”
