In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Alicia Keys’ third album, As I Am, the singer has shared an unreleased track titled “When You Were Gone.”
“‘When You Were Gone’ is one of the VERY first songs recorded for As I Am, the one where I started to create the sound that the album has,” Keys explained. “We were experimenting with a lot of keyboards and sounds and styles of recording, and we were all about breaking boundaries and writing things in new ways.”
Released on Nov. 9, 2007, As I Am featured some of Keys’ hits including “No One,” “Like You’ll Never See Me Again,” “Teenage Love Affair” and “Superwoman.” The album scored Keys a few Grammys including Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song for “No One.”
