After being honored at Billboard’s Women in Music awards, Kehlani shares the video for her latest single “Honey.”
Directed by David Camarena, the video finds Kehlani spending intimate time with her leading lady played by Aarianna Johnson.
“This song was inspired by an androgynous woman, and I wanted to find someone who fell in line with that, who was ‘hard’ yet so so soft (yes, like a bee),” Kehlani wrote on Instagram. “I was asked ‘why not use a feminine girl?’ but I knew I wanted to honor the inspiration, and paint the picture of the sweet tender aspect that shines through every woman, no matter what.”
“Honey” is Kehlani’s first single to be released since dropping her debut album, SweetSexySavage, in January. Her song “Distraction” is up for Best R&B Performance for the 60th Grammy Awards.
After an eight-year hiatus, we will finally hear new music from the legendary Sade. The “Smooth Operator” has been enlisted for the A Wrinkle in Time movie soundtrack on a song titled “Flower of the Universe.” Ava DuVernay, who directed the film and produced the soundtrack, broke the news on Twitter on Tuesday.
“I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway,’ DuVerynay tweeted. “She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget. Proud to announce that Sade has created an original song for WRINKLE IN TIME. It’s entitled ‘Flower of the Universe.’ And it’s a dream come true.”

The soundtrack includes two versions of “Flower of the Universe” performed by Sade, one of which is a remix by No I.D. She co-wrote and co-produced the track with Ben Travers and Andrew Hale. This is Sade’s second original song contribution to a soundtrack following 1986’s Absolute Beginners.
Singer-songwriter Kehlani was also booked for the soundtrack on a song called “Let Me Live.” Also included is “Warrior,” written and performed by sisters Chloe x Halle. The duo is signed to Beyoncé’s label Parkwood Entertainment.
Speaking about the artists and composer, DuVernay said: “Each song on the Wrinkle in Time soundtrack was crafted with great care in close collaboration with the artists. My creative partnership with Sade on ‘Flower of the Universe’ was so connected that I reverse engineered the usual process and used her lyrics as actual dialogue within the film.
She added, “I truly loved working with DJ Khaled who jumped into this project with open arms and an open heart, along with the great Demi Lovato. Sia, Kehlani and Chloe x Halle beautifully embraced the visuals of the film to create distinct songs that expand and elevate Meg’s heroic journey. And working with Ramin Djawadi was a dream come true as I have been a long-time admirer of his stellar work. His musical compositions for the film are perfectly otherworldly.”
The soundtrack will release digitally on March 9, which is also the same day the film premieres in theaters.
Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time is an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.

Khalid and Normani can’t keep their eyes off each other in their fervid visual for “Love Lies,” lifted from the impending Love, Simon soundtrack.
The cinematic video begins with Khalid — who is working as a valet attendant — setting up his on-the-job plans with a text thread with his Fifth Harmony co-star. He sends Normani the ‘location’ of the hotel he works at and she pulls up shortly in a black ride.
The Young Dumb & Broke artist opens her door, and Normani steps out dressed in a flowy black trench-coat. Eager to put on a show, she hardly makes it to her room before she snatches off her coat to reveal her sexy lingerie.
Finally, in the room, Normani draws back the curtains and dances like her life depends on it. Khalid has a bird’s-eye view of her dance number and sends her emojis of appreciation at his valet post.
Love, Simon will hit the big screen on March 16.

It seems like almost every R&B artist is dropping some material on Valentine’s Day. In celebration of the loving holiday, Rotimi has released a visual for “Baecation” from his Jeep Music, Vol. 1 EP.
In the video, directed by Sean Edwards, Rotimi calls up his girl and surprises her with a romantic date around town. The two enjoy each other’s company at a park, before heading to take pictures at a photo booth.
According to a press release, Rotimi is gearing up to release another EP later this year, as well as return for the fifth season of the hit show on STARZ, Power.
Last December, the actor/singer released a remix to “Kitchen Table” with Trey Songz and Ty Dolla $ign. The original version also appears on Jeep Music, Vol. 1.
