Trevor Jackson has released his new LP, Rough Drafts Pt. 1, on Born Art/EMPIRE.

According to Jackson, Rough Drafts was inspired by the idea of being a work in progress and that as humans we are all aspiring to become the best or final version of ourselves.

The 15-track offering — preceded by “NightTime” and “Apocalypse” — features guest appearances from inspirational rapper Lecrae (“All I Am”) and Jackson’s brother Iyn Jay (“27:17” and “Anakin”).

Rough Drafts is the follow-up to Jackson’s 2015 mixtape, In My Feelings.

He is currently supporting Justine Skye on her Ultraviolet Tour, which kicked off this week in Washington, D.C.

Jackson has an exciting year ahead of him. Aside from his role in Freeform’s Grown-ish, which was renewed for a second season, Jackson will also star as Youngblood Priest in the upcoming remake of Superfly. The film, directed by Director X, is produced by Joel Silver and rapper Future. The wait is over! Toni Braxton has released her eighth studio album, Sex & Cigarettes, on Def Jam Records.

The short-and-sweet project consists of eight tracks including the singles “Deadwood” and “Long As I Live.” Braxton hopes her new album will inspire women.

“It’s about girl empowerment, but at the same time, I’m dying inside because the guy has moved on,” Braxton told US Magazine. “Sex and Cigarettes [is] the next step for sexy and for my sound. I think as an artist you have to push the envelope even further and that’s what I think I did with this album. I think my fans are really going to like it.”

Sex & Cigarettes is Braxton’s first solo album in eight years. It is the follow-up to her 2010 project, Pulse, which debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200. In 2014, she released a duet album with Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds called Love, Marriage & Divorce, which won Best R&B Album at the 57th Grammy Awards.
