So much for McAfee virus protection. Janelle Monáe plans to corrupt hard drives everywhere with the release of her highly-awaited fourth studio album, Dirty Computer, this year. In anticipation of this moment, Monáe has released an online trailer for the project.
In typical Monáe fashion, she uses the 30-second album announcement to push the artistic envelope with striking images. From the police arming a women to the “PrimeTime” singer kissing her rumored love interest (Tessa Thompson), the ultramodern visual has fans wanting more.
Monáe’s captivating voice plays in the clip’s background. “They drained us of our dirt and all the things that made us special. And then you were lost, sleeping, and you didn’t remember anything at all.”
Dirty Computer will be Monáe’s first studio album as a solo artist since 2013’s The Electric Lady, which generated rave reviews.
