Editor’s Note: In the latest episode of “R&B Divas:LA,” Leela James did an interview with an online publication in hopes of talking about her new music. Things took a quick turn during the interview when the interviewer was more concerned about her personal life and drama instead of Leela’s music. However, Leela made it be known that she wasn’t feeling the entire interview.
Can we talk about music please? Music is a universal language that reaches the hearts of many. Music is powerful and has been said, “makes the world go round.” I love music, so when possible I’m talking about it.
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, in fact, unbeknownst to some, I’ve been in the music industry for some years now, doing MUSIC. I feel blessed to still be able to do something that I love for a living and hopefully will continue to touch the lives and hearts of many. Music is a part of my life and I’m more than happy to share that aspect of my life with whoever asks. For me, it’s always been about the music first and foremost, which can be tricky at times, because sometimes when doing interviews, I get asked about everything else but music…no bueno. I’m an artist to the fullest. I do music. That’s my job.
Social media is a great platform for promoting and advertising one’s music and when used right, social media can really enhance one’s career. On the contrary when used wrong, social media can be extremely negative and destructive. That being said, a level of responsibility is necessary when using social media in order to preserve decency, order and have positive outcomes.
Therefore, If I agree to do an interview with someone regarding music, I prefer to stay on the subject of “MUSIC” as oppose to gossiping and talking about who’s sleeping with who and so on. That’s fine for some, but as for me, I’m going to write a song and keep doing MUSIC.

I love her passion for music. That’s how we all should express ourselves when it comes to what we are passionate about.
