Urban pop newcomer Chris decides to “Spread The Love” with her debut EP.
The D.C. native released the six-track EP on November 11. When asked about why she chose to release her debut EP on the significant date of 11.11.11, Chris states:
“It’s an exciting date! There won’t be another 11/11 for another 100 years and so many weddings are happening 11/11, so love is in the air! This project is very important to me so I thought it was fitting, a picture perfect debut date.”
“Spread The Love” comes with up-tempo tracks like lead single “Yea Ok” and “Swag It Up” and ballads like “Ask Me.”
Chris’ influence stems from some of the greatest names in pop culture. When asked who her favorite artist is or who she is most often compared to, Chris says:
“Aaliyah! She is one of my favorite performers and I have always loved the writing and production on her albums. She was able to make urban, percussive music that was still popular and could crossover. Another favorite of mine is Janet Jackson. She can do a song in any genre and it makes sense. That flexibility and freedom of artistry makes her really timeless in my eyes.”
