After taking a break from the music industry, Brooke Valentine (“Girlfight”) is making her way back to the spotlight.
It has been a while since we’ve heard from the songstress. She recently did an interview with Houston’s 97.9 The Box to talk about her break from the industry, her outlook on life and her new music.
Brook Speaks On her hiatus:
When I found out my cousin was murdered, gunned down, it messed me up. I had been traveling so much and so far off into my music career, that I felt so disconnected from what really mattered….I just realized that I really wanted to take a break and be with family for awhile.
The Houston native is set to officially release her new single “Forever,” on Valentine’s Day. “This song is truly straight from my heart, this is all of me now,” said Valentine. She went on to speak about her new album:
The time is now, my fans have been anxiously waiting, still hitting me up asking for another project and that means a lot, because it’s been a while. But I am really excited! I have seen it all you know, and although I never gave up on music and stayed writing and in the studio, I fell out of love with the music industry and fell back in love with life. So this next album will definitely have substance and make an emotional connection.
It’s great to see artists grow and mature. I’ve had a chance to preview Valentine’s new single and she sounds amazing. Hopefully she will release her album some time this year.
