One of the anticipated moments of last night’s Grammy Awards was Jennifer Hudson’s tribute to Whitney Houston. Houston died one day before the ceremony and it was only right for the Recording Academy to pull together a tribute to the late singer.
Originally, Chaka Khan was supposed to join Hudson in the tribute. However, she pulled out at the last minute. “As I grieve the loss of my friend and ‘little sister,’ I don’t feel it appropriate to perform at this time. Continue to pray for the family,” said Khan via Twitter.
As many people in the entertainment say, “the show must go on.” An emotional Jennifer Hudson took the stage last night to perform Houston’s classic song “I Will Always Love You,” from “The Bodyguard Soundtrack.”
Watch Hudson’s breathtaking performance.
Although Hudson only performed half of the song, it was still a powerful performance. Kudos to the producers who went beyond measures to put together a last-minute tribute within 24 hours.
R.I.P. Whitney Houston. We will always love you.
