Three album release dates later and Candice Glover is finally ready for music admirers to hear her long-awaited debut album “Music Speaks.”
With her first album releasing today (Feb. 18), the season 12 “American Idol” winner chatted with ESSENCE.com to spread the word. She dished on her new album and shared what kept her driven through her third audition of the singing competition.
“The first two times, I was just so hung up on what I thought the judges wanted and America wanted and the other contestants wanted,” says Glover. “But the moment I decided I didn’t care about all of that is when things started to work out.”
In regards to her album, “Music Speaks,” Glover calls it a “love album,” which she says is her favorite subject to sing about. She states the music on the album is “very soulful.”
While Glover doesn’t have any guest appearances on the album, she already has artists in mind for potential remixes.
Glover also shared her appreciation for Jazmine Sullivan, who wrote her latest single, “Cried.”
