Where were you in life ten years ago in 2005? R&B music was still thriving in the mainstream world. Artists like Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and Mario were dominating the Billboard and radio charts with their respective singles.
Meanwhile, R&B/pop newcomers like Rihanna, Chris Brown, Trey Songz and Keyshia Cole were being introduced to music listeners with the release of their debut albums.
It was also the year that digital music really began impacting the music industry. On Feb. 12, 2005, Billboard officially began counting digital download sales toward chart positions.
