Budding artist Bee Boisseau assembles an impressive roster for his debut record, “NFL.” The motivational song, which serves as a tribute to the controversial hero Colin Kaepernick, features a magnetic saxophone experience from Vandell Andrew, rhymes from Wes Felton and a nice vocal from Raheem DeVaughn.
From his early years as a student at the University of Nevada to his public major league football woes, Boisseau narrates the events of Kaepernick’s life with a spoken-word cadence. During the chorus, DeVaughn interjects with a strong falsetto to add some vocal flare.
“The message is not so much about the National Football League; it’s about the injustices and police brutality against people of color. I don’t want that message to get lost at all,” said Boisseau in a statement.
DeVaughn adds, “As four conscious artists and musicians of black and brown color that celebrate the hashtag #LiveWoke we have created this anthem in solidarity and honor of our brother, Colin Kaepernick.”
“NFL” will appear on Boisseau’s debut project, Back to Love, due in early 2019 on DMG (DeVaughn Multimedia Group) imprint.
