Robert Glasper works fast. The Grammy-winning musician created a mixtape in two days with a group of his music super friends and titled it Fuck Yo Feelings.
The 19-track project features an all-star cast of collaborators including SiR, Bilal, Andra Day, Bridget Kelly, Baby Rose, Rapsody, and many more.
In the mixtape’s companion short film, Glasper revealed that many of the special guests featured on the project were a surprise to him, especially his session with music treasure Herbie Hancock.
“Herbie is totally that dude that will come [to the studio] and jam with you,” he told Rachel Reynolds. “He likes to mingle with mortals and hang out and actually he likes to learn from us. That’s so inspiring.”
Fuck Yo Feelings is Glasper’s first full-length release since dropping the Robert Glasper Experiment’s ArtScience album in 2016. Back in 2018, he teamed with progressive hitmaker Kaytranda to remix eight songs from the project
Glasper recently kicked off his month-long residency at New York’s Blue Note Jazz Club. Over the course of 28 nights, he will play 56 shows with various sets, including an acoustic performance featuring Vicente Archer and Damion Reid with DJ Jahi Sundance. Tickets information can be found here.
