Marques Houston continues to expand his film resume. The R&B veteran, along with Karrueche Tran, will co-star in the upcoming romantic comedy A Weekend with the Family.
Directed and produced by Chris Stokes, the film follows a young attorney who looks to gain a position at a prestigious law firm while secretly dating his boss’ daughter, who he’s hoping to marry. When his loving girlfriend decides to arrange a surprise family weekend get-together, his plans blow up in his face, especially with the arrival of his “ghetto-fied” family, the Stankershets.
Travis (Marques Houston) and Courtney (Karrueche Tran) portray love interests who struggle to hold on to their relationship all while their two families wage war in an explosion of hilarity.
The film will premiere in at AMC theaters in select cities on April 1, as part of the AMC Independent™ Film Program, which highlights their commitment to advancing independent film, allowing patrons the opportunity to see more distinct and unconventional films at their theatres around the country.
“I am so thrilled and grateful to AMC for the inclusion of my film, A Weekend with the Family into their prestigious AMC Independent™ Film Program,” says Stokes. “This is huge for us and I am so proud to be a part of this community, along with so many other brilliant minds and extraordinary talent.”
A Weekend with the Family will also co-star Wendy Raquel Robinson, Clifton Powell, Dorien Wilson, Chantel Jeffries, Suzanne Whang, J Boog, Shondrella Avery and Alfred “Black” Nolan Thomas II.
