It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from BJ The Chicago Kid. However, the R&B crooner has reemerged on up-and-coming rapper/singer JBdaPilot’s new single “These Days.”
“These days I’m everywhere the money goes / You know I’m everywhere the money goes / I just got a hundred ones, tell em bring a hundred mo’ / And I know it’s coming quick, but just look at how fast the money go,” sings BJ The Chicago Kid.
JBdaPilot exclusively told Rated R&B why he chose to put BJ The Chicago Kid on the track. “It was really a crazy process. I wrote the hook before I had anything else, even the beat,” he revealed. “I never usually do that. By the time it was all recorded, I felt like it was missing something. The more I played it, the more I could hear BJ’s voice instead of mine. I told myself I wasn’t gonna release the song unless he was on it. As a fan, I knew it wasn’t his typical record, but that’s what made it perfect. When he came to the city for a performance we met at the studio and I played him the record. He laid the vocals on spot, and there you have it.”
“These Days” is lifted from JBdaPilot’s forthcoming project, These Are Dark Times.
