After building buzz from his mixtapes, The Weeknd has finally signed a record deal. The alternative R&B singer-songwriter has signed a deal with Universal Records via his own label XO.
The Canadian native made his debut with his critically acclaimed “House of Balloons” mixtape, which was released in 2011. The mixtape attracted many ears, including Drake whom The Weeknd eventually collaborated and toured with.
The 22-year-old singer is also preparing to release his debut project via Universal Republic titled “Trilogy.” The project is slated to release on November 13 and will include all three of his mixtapes — “House of Balloons,” “Thursday,” and “Echos of Silence” — mixed/mastered and a few unheard tracks.
The Weeknd his also getting ready to embark on his fall tour, starting on September 21. The crooner will hit major cities like Chicago, Vancouver, Seattle, Hollywood, Miami, and New York. See a list of tour dates below.
