Ciara was honored at the Laughter Is the Best Medicine 2024 Gala, hosted by Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University.
The event was held Thursday, May 2, at Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, California.
The Grammy-winning singer received the Visionary Award “for her unwavering commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and equitable access to healthcare.”
In a previous statement, Ciara shared, “When we prioritize equitable access to healthcare for all women, we not only transform lives but also build a foundation for a more prosperous society. I am honored to receive the Visionary Award for my commitment to promoting women’s empowerment.”
Kelly Rowland, a friend of Ciara, presented her with the award. Following the event, Rowland went to social media to share an endearing message to Ciara.
“Dearest @ciara, It was an honor to present you with lastgnights’ [sic] @jhpiego Visionary Award! You deserve it!” Rowland wrote in an Instagram caption for photos of her and Ciara at the event.
Rowland continued,” ‘Out of the Abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks,” and listening to your heart lastnight speak on better health care for Mothers and babies, made me love you even more my friend! When we all do our part, care a little more, love, a little more, towards ourselves and others, we can see real change open up in the world! The world is a sweeter place with you in it! I love you!”
Ciara commented on the post: “Awe, Kellz Boo, I am so grateful for you! You inspire me as a mom, friend, and woman! You are so beautiful inside and out! I love you so so much!”
On July 4, Ciara will embark on The Out of This World Tour with Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes.
The star-studded tour, which includes special guest Timbaland, will visit Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Houston, Baltimore, Toronto, and more. The North American leg will conclude Aug. 23 in Rosemont, Illinois.
The Out of This World Tour comes ahead of the 20th anniversary of Ciara’s definitive debut album, Goodies.
