Singer Jason Derulo sat down in an interview with Radio.com to talk about his current “Tattoos” album, from narrowing down 300 songs to 12 songs for the project, his single with Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz and why some of the tracks are difficult to listen to.
Jason Derulo first recorded 300 records for the”Tattoos,” an album that took over a year to complete.
“It was rough trying to choose 12 songs out of 300,” said the singer. “But we finally made it happen.”
He went on to say that he wanted to be sure this album was different than he first album, recorded at 19, and that “Tattoos” was a “roller coaster” for listeners, with every song being different.
“I really wanted this album to be a direct representation of who I am,” the now 23-year-old singer said.
Jason says that there are songs on the album, like title track “Tattoos,” that are most difficult to listen to, which he says is “the emotional part of the album.”
“When you hear those songs, they just take you back to that place,” he said.
The 2 Chainz-assisted single, “Talk Dirty,” talks about the international language of love, says Jason.
“It’s a very fun song,” he said. “It’s not a song you should take too seriously, but it is a song that you can’t help but move.”
